We welcome Father Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R. as our new associate pastor, whose appointment was effective October 1st.
Fr. Brehl was born and raised in Toronto. Early on in his life he became acquainted with the Redemptorists and went on to develope a great love for St. Alphonsus, it’s founder, and for the Redemptorist mission to the poor and most abandoned. He professed his religious vows as on the Feast of the Assumption, August 15, 1976, and was ordained a priest on March 15, 1980.
Through the years, Fr. Brehl has been involved in many aspects of Redemptorist life and ministry, including: parish ministry, the preaching of parish missions, the formation of Redemptorist novices and students, and various administrative roles, both here in Canada and internationally. From 2002 to 2009, he served as the Provincial Superior of English-speaking Redemptorists in Canada. At the Redemptorist General Chapter in 2009, Fr. Brehl was elected Superior General of the Redemptorists, a role that he held for two terms, serving faithfully and carrying out diligently for 13 years, until the Fall of 2022.
Since last Fall, Fr. Brehl has been a member of the St. Patrick’s Redemptorist community, while taking some time for a well- deserved sabbatical. It is a great blessing to welcome Fr. Brehl to St. Patrick’s as a member of the pastoral team. He comes with a wealth of experience and a great knowledge of the Redemptorists, its history, and its many missionary activities throughout the world.
