There will be a special Mass with choir, at 7:00pm. This feast, celebrated forty days after Christmas, honours Jesus Christ’s presentation in the Temple when he was a young child. There is a tradition of blessing candles on this day.
Candles will also be lit at the beginning of the Mass to symbolize Simeon’s prophecy that Jesus would be a “a light for the revelation to the Gentiles.” Those who wish may bring candles from home which will be blessed at the beginning of the of the evening Mass.
(The 12:10pm Mass will proceed as usual, however the candle blessing will be at the evening Mass only.)
