Become a Volunteer!

Thank you for your interest in St. Patrick's Out of the Cold program. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program was shut down last March, as were the other OOTC programs in the GTA. Since then, the circumstances with the virus have not changed. As a result, and with the loss of funding from the City of Toronto for floor security, we will not be serving dinner and providing accommodations to our guests at St. Patrick’s for the 2020-21 season.

However, to help as many homeless guests and people facing food insecurity as possible, we will be preparing meals at St. Patrick’s which will then be served by two agencies (Good Shepherd Ministries on Queen St. and St. Felix on Augusta) at their locations by local staff. A few volunteers will be recruited each week to help the cooking team prepare the meals, clean up the kitchen area, or sort out donations (clothes, toiletries, etc.). To keep our volunteers safe, we will be using the kitchen and the entire parish hall to help maintain social distancing. As we will be needing fewer numbers of volunteers, we are unable to accept new volunteers for the upcoming season. We should have enough returning volunteers to help the cooking teams and run the program for this year.
