What is the Out of the Cold Program?

Out of the Cold logo

This year’s Out of the Cold Program begins on the weekend of November 15th & 16th, 2025. For 20 weeks, our volunteers will be preparing meals each week for 600 people in need. Once again we are partnering with two agencies (Good Shepherd Ministries on Queen Street East & the St. Felix Centre on Augusta Avenue) who will serve the hot meals at their locations.

The Out of the Cold Program is run by committed volunteers and relies on donations from individuals and businesses. To give an idea of the great need for food in this city, this year, local experts say one in 10 Toronto residents now rely on food banks to get through the month.

How to Contribute: There are 3 convenient ways to make a financial
contribution:

  1. There are Out of the Cold envelopes available in the church. Cash or cheques can be placed in the Offertory collection at Mass at any time, or in the prayer intention boxes along the counters. Please make cheques out to “St. Patrick’s Church” and on the memo line write “Out of the Cold”.
  2. Scan the QR code included in the bulletin each week or go to our parish website: stpatricksto.archtoronto.org and click on the “Donate” button in the top right. Choose “Parish Offertory” and follow the steps. It is important to indicate “Out of the Cold” in the “notes or directives” section.
  3. By debit or credit card in the parish office.

Thank you for your support in our efforts to help the poor and hungry in our city!

(St. Patrick’s Out of the Cold program has been running for more than 30 years now and prior to the pandemic, regularly served meals to about 250 people and offered overnight shelter for 80 people. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of funding from the City of Toronto for floor security, we have not been serving dinner and providing accommodations to our guests at St. Patrick’s for the past few years.

Instead, to help as many homeless guests and people facing food insecurity as possible, we have been preparing meals at St. Patrick’s which will then be served at other agencies.)
