Rest in Peace, +Fr. William "Bill" Fitzgerald, C.Ss.R.

Father William “Bill” Fitzgerald, C.Ss.R. entered eternal life on Tuesday, November 01, 2022. He was 84 years old and in his 59th year of priesthood with the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists). Fr. Fitzgerald was a hospital chaplain in Toronto for a few months after ordination. He was then appointed director of students, a professor of history and math, and coach of all the sports teams at St. Mary’s College in Brockville (former Redemptorist minor seminary). When St. Mary’s closed, Fr. Bill began parish appointments at Holy Redeemer Parish in Charlottetown, PEI in 1968. For the next 35 plus years, he served as Pastor and Superior at four Parishes; in Windsor (St. Alphonsus), Saint John (St. Peter’s), Sudbury (Holy Redeemer) and Toronto (St. Patrick’s 1999-2005). Fr. Bill was retired and in residence at St. Patrick’s Church (Toronto) where he continued to provide pastoral assistance. Fr. Bill was a priest well-loved by the parishioners of St. Patrick's. VISITATION: Monday, November 7 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Vigil prayers at 7:00 p.m.) and Tuesday, November 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church.
